Bishop Kenny Sweeps the District 2-3A Cross-Country Team Titles at Home; Ponte Vedra's Luke Ross and Kenny's Jillian Jakab Win the Individual Races

Bishop Kenny turned its home district meet into a sweep on Monday, winning the District 2-3A boys team title 42-49 over Fleming Island and the girls title 21-46 over Ponte Vedra, while Ponte Vedra's Luke Ross (15:57) and Bishop Kenny's Jillian Jakab (18:40) took the individual crowns.

Bishop Kenny Sweeps the District 2-3A Cross-Country Team Titles at Home; Ponte Vedra's Luke Ross and Kenny's Jillian Jakab Win the Individual Races (Jacksonville Watch News)

The district cross-country postseason opened on Bishop Kenny's course, and the home school kept both team trophies. In the District 2-3A boys race, Bishop Kenny scored 42 points to Fleming Island's 49, with Ponte Vedra third at 66 and St. Augustine fourth at 94, according to the Florida Times-Union's scoreboard for November 2-7, read by the Sports Desk this run. The individual winner came from the third-place team: Ponte Vedra's Luke Ross won in 15:57.

The girls race was less close at the top. Bishop Kenny scored 21 points to Ponte Vedra's 46, with Stanton third at 117 on the scoreboard's listing, and Kenny's Jillian Jakab won the individual title in 18:40 - a home sweep of the team titles, split only by Ross's win in the boys individual race.

District meets are the first cut of the cross-country postseason: the team scores above are the complete top of the board as the Times-Union's scoreboard published them, and this story reports them exactly as listed, without adding finishers or times the scoreboard did not carry.

Monday held no high school football - Week 11 was played Friday - so the district harriers own the school file for the night, and the desk's Friday roundup discipline carries the football postseason from here.

Ravens' Monday Injury Report: Fagnano Limited With an Ankle, Huntley and Jackson Out, and Kicker Tyler Loop Sidelined Too

Baltimore's Monday injury report put all three of its quarterbacks on the list before Thursday's game against Jacksonville: rookie Joe Fagnano limited with an ankle injury, Tyler Huntley out with a toe injury and Lamar Jackson out with the thumb that will send him to injured reserve. Kicker Tyler Loop also sat out, which is why Jake Moody is expected to kick against the Jaguars.
