Early Voting Is Over in Duval County: Election Day Is Tuesday - Vote at Your Precinct, 7 to 7

Duval County's 13 days of early voting closed at 5 p.m. Sunday. What changes on Tuesday, Nov. 3: there is no any-site voting - you vote at your assigned polling location, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern, with picture and signature ID - and a mail ballot must be in the Supervisor of Elections' hands by 7 p.m., not just postmarked.

Early Voting Is Over in Duval County: Election Day Is Tuesday - Vote at Your Precinct, 7 to 7 (Jacksonville Watch News)

Early voting in Duval County is over. The county's early voting period ran from Tuesday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 1, closing with the weekend's 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. hours, the Duval County Supervisor of Elections states on its official dates page, opened by the desk this run. The next chance to vote is Election Day itself, Tuesday, Nov. 3 - and its rules are different from the ones that just ended.

The biggest change is place. During early voting, any eligible Duval County voter could use any of the county's early voting sites. On Election Day, in-person voting runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time and a voter must vote at their assigned polling location, the Supervisor's page states. A picture and signature ID are required. Voters who are unsure of their precinct should check it with the Supervisor of Elections before Tuesday morning rather than at a doorway on Tuesday night.

Mail voters have a hard deadline, and it is a receipt deadline. The Supervisor of Elections must receive a voted vote-by-mail ballot by Election Day, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. Eastern Time, the page states - a ballot still in the mail at 7 p.m. does not count, whatever its postmark. One exception exists for overseas voters: their mailed ballots have a 10-day extension to Nov. 13, provided the ballot was postmarked or dated no later than Election Day; overseas ballots returned by fax are due by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 like everyone else's. Anyone picking up a vote-by-mail ballot in person must provide picture ID, and since Oct. 24 must also complete an emergency affidavit, the page states; a designee picking up for someone else also needs a note from the voter and the designee affidavit.

Two dates matter after Tuesday for voters whose ballots need attention: the deadline to provide evidence of eligibility for a provisional ballot, and to cure a signature deficiency on a mail or provisional ballot, is Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, the Supervisor's page states. Everything in this guide is the county's own published schedule; the Supervisor of Elections' official site, duvalelections.gov, carries precinct lookup and ballot tracking.
