Cardinals vs Cowboys Final Score: Gardner Minshew Rallies Arizona From 14 Down to a 33-30 Overtime Win in Arlington

Former Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew came off the bench in the third quarter with Arizona trailing 17-3, threw three touchdown passes and engineered four straight scoring drives to force overtime, where Chad Ryland - who had missed the extra point that would have won it in regulation - kicked the 42-yard winner in a 33-30 Cardinals victory over Dallas.

Cardinals vs Cowboys Final Score: Gardner Minshew Rallies Arizona From 14 Down to a 33-30 Overtime Win in Arlington (Jacksonville Watch News)

Jacksonville knows this script. Gardner Minshew, the quarterback who became a folk hero here in 2019, came off Arizona's bench in the third quarter on Sunday with the Cardinals trailing Dallas 17-3 and promptly engineered four straight touchdown drives to end regulation, Reuters reported in a file opened and read directly by the desk this run. Arizona won 33-30 in overtime in Arlington, Texas. Minshew threw three touchdown passes and completed 17 of 23 attempts for 188 yards after replacing Jacoby Brissett, who had thrown an interception and been sacked four times for 119 yards.

The finish was almost stranger than the comeback. Down to the Cowboys' 13 with 10 seconds left, Minshew threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson with six seconds remaining - Wilson caught eight passes for 111 yards - and the Cardinals needed only the extra point for a 31-30 win. Chad Ryland pulled it wide left instead, and the game went to overtime. In the extra period Josh Sweat sacked Dak Prescott to end Dallas's first drive, Arizona travelled 44 yards in eight plays, and Ryland atoned with the game-winning field goal from 42 yards, Reuters reported.

The rushing game carried the comeback's first half. Tyler Allgeier had 147 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, including a 63-yard score late in the third quarter - the longest run of his five-year career - and a 5-yard Minshew touchdown pass early in the fourth that pulled Arizona within 24-17, Reuters reported. The Cardinals outgained the Cowboys 467-261 and rushed for 202 yards. Dallas (3-5) had built its cushion the grinding way: a 15-play, nearly seven-minute fourth-quarter drive ending in Brandon Aubrey's 35-yard field goal for 27-17 with 3:54 left - a lead Minshew then erased in the final 2:11, aided by a roughing-the-passer call that wiped out a fourth-and-10 stop one play before his 14-yard touchdown to a wide-open Trey McBride.

The cost sheet ran on both sides, Reuters reported: Cowboys first-round safety Caleb Downs was ruled out in the fourth quarter after being checked for a concussion, cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (ankle) and safety P.J. Locke (concussion) also left early, and Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love injured his right ankle and did not return. Prescott finished 19-of-29 for 195 yards for Dallas. Arizona improved to 3-5; the file the desk read carries no claim about Minshew's starting status going forward, and none is made here - only that on Sunday, the former Jaguar authored the weekend's wildest finish.

JAGUARS / TRADE DEADLINE

Brian Thomas Jr.'s Touchdown Made the Jaguars' Trade Decision Harder, Not Easier

The receiver at the center of Jacksonville's trade-deadline speculation opened the scoring Sunday with a 12-yard touchdown against Indianapolis - his second of the year and his first catch of any kind since Week 4. It was also his only target the rest of the game, with a drop in tight coverage, which is why the Nov. 10 deadline question did not get any cleaner.
