Parts of the Learjet Broke Off Before It Crashed in Palm Beach County, Federal Investigators Said Monday
Evidence indicates parts of the plane broke off before it crashed in South Florida and killed nine, federal investigators said at a Monday news conference in West Palm Beach, according to the Associated Press.

Evidence indicates parts of the Learjet broke off before it crashed in Palm Beach County on Sunday, killing all nine people on board, federal investigators said Monday, according to an Associated Press NewsAlert reporting the National Transportation Safety Board's Monday news conference in West Palm Beach. The cause of the crash remains undetermined.
The Learjet 60 was flying from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas when it crashed at about 12:50 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, November 1, in Greenacres, USA Today reported in its corroborating file on the same Monday briefing. About 600 people were evacuated from the neighborhood, and the debris field measured roughly half a mile by four-tenths of a mile, the report said, citing NTSB member Tom Chapman and investigator Tim Monville at the briefing.
The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner had not yet identified the people on board as of the Monday briefing, USA Today reported. This is the desk's third file on the crash: the NTSB's go-team work began in earnest Monday morning, and the investigation now turns to the breakup evidence investigators described. No official identifications had been released at the time of this file.
