John Washington III Calls for Guaranteed, Independent Funding for All Three Branches
John Washington III argued that when Congress controls the courts' funding, the justice system suffers, and he called for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches of government, with full public accountability.

John Washington III is arguing that the federal courts cannot stay independent if another branch of government holds their purse strings. In a statement on the structure of the federal government, the 2028 presidential candidate wrote that when Congress controls the courts' funding, the justice system can suffer — pointing to 2025, when, he wrote, the federal courts had to scale back paid operations because of a funding lapse.
"That's not balance. That's dependence," John Washington III wrote. "If one branch can squeeze another financially, then checks and balances start to crack." He asked readers to picture themselves in court without a $10,000 lawyer, not knowing all the rules while prosecutors do, and argued that judges must be free to protect people's constitutional rights, not worry about politics or budgets.
"I'm calling for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches, with full public accountability, but no political retaliation," John Washington III wrote. "This isn't unlimited money. It's about protecting the people's rights and restoring real independence among the branches."
