November starts with a deal for Jacksonville families. Kids Free November, the Visit Jacksonville program, runs from November 1 through November 30, with free or discounted admission for children at more than a dozen local attractions and deals at local restaurants, Action News Jax reported. Most deals require a paying adult, each venue sets its own rules, and special and nighttime events are usually not included.
The headline offer is at the Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens: up to five kids ages 3 to 12 get free daytime general admission with a paying adult, with tickets bought online rather than at the gate, according to the JaxStay family guide to the program, sourced to Visit Jacksonville. At the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, kids ages 6 to 12 enter free with a paying adult and no coupon is needed. MOCA Jacksonville admits kids under 18 free with a paying adult.
The list runs well beyond the museums. Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary admits two kids ages 3 to 11 free with a paying adult on daytime tours; the Jacksonville Arboretum and Botanical Gardens admits up to two kids free per paying adult; Congaree and Penn offers free farm passes for up to two kids ages 2 to 11 on Saturdays and Sundays; and iFly Jacksonville gives one child a free two-flight package with the purchase of a full-priced package on weekdays. Kona Skate Park, Jacksonville BMX, the Community First Igloo and a string of bakeries and coffee shops carry smaller offers, from two-for-one skating to a free cookie for kids under 15 at 1748 Bakehouse.
The practical advice from the guide is simple: check the venue's own site before going, because age ranges, days and ticket rules differ by attraction, and the offers cannot be combined with other discounts or used for special events. The program runs all month, through November 30.
