Sporting JAX Draws Brooklyn 4-4 in an Eight-Goal Thriller at Hodges Stadium
Sporting JAX came back from two goals down twice on Saturday — Ashlyn Puerta scored twice in the second half — to take a point from a match that tied the league record for goals in a single game.

Sporting JAX and Brooklyn FC played to a 4-4 draw at Hodges Stadium on Saturday, an eight-goal match that tied the Gainbridge Super League record for most goals scored in a single match, according to the league's published match highlights. Brooklyn's Jilly Skimkin became the first player in league history to record three assists in a match, and Jackie Richards scored twice for the visitors.
The home side spent the day climbing. Brooklyn led 2-0 inside the first 25 minutes before Baylee DeSmit headed in a Grace Phillpotts free kick for her eighth goal of the season, and Paige Kenton muscled through to equalize in the 33rd minute. Brooklyn struck twice more early in the second half to restore a two-goal lead — and Sporting JAX climbed again.
Kenton drew a foul in the box in the 67th minute, and Ashlyn Puerta converted the penalty. In the 80th minute Kenton and Puerta combined again, Puerta finishing to tie the match at 4-4 and join DeSmit atop the league scoring chart with eight goals this season. Neither side found a winner in the closing minutes.
Head coach Stacey Balaam credited the group's work ethic afterward while saying she does not want two-goal comebacks to become a trend. Sporting JAX goes on the road next weekend to face Dallas Trinity FC in the league's Match of the Month, at 5 p.m. ET on Peacock, and returns to Hodges Stadium on Sunday, November 15, at 5 p.m. against DC Power FC.
