Sporting JAX Hosts Brooklyn FC at 2 P.M. Today in a Halloween Match at Hodges Stadium (Jacksonville Watch News)

Jacksonville's soccer Halloween starts early. Sporting Club Jacksonville hosts Brooklyn FC today at 2 p.m. ET at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus in a Gainbridge Super League match, with the game streaming on Peacock. The club moved the kickoff up from its originally scheduled 5 p.m. start so fans and families can attend the match and still make Halloween festivities later in the day, and it is encouraging fans to wear costumes, with Halloween activities planned throughout matchday and a Spooky 5K — presented by the club and the UNF Sports Management Club — leading into the match on the UNF campus.

The stakes are real on the field. Sporting JAX (4-2-3, 15 points) has climbed to second place in the standings on a three-game undefeated streak, scoring 10 goals across that span as Ashlyn Puerta and Paige Kenton have broken out, according to the league's Week 12 preview. With an eight-point gap to make up on Carolina Ascent at the top, the league calls this a must-win for Jacksonville's Players' Shield hopes.

Brooklyn (3-5-1, 10 points) has already beaten Jacksonville once this season — a 3-2 win at Maimonides Park in which Catherine Zimmerman scored twice, including the winner with eight minutes to play — and arrives unbeaten in its last three, according to the league preview. Referee Russell Miller handles the match, per the league's Week 12 officiating assignments.
