Byron Donalds Predicts a Florida Governor Win on Newsmax, Making Affordability His Closing Case
On the final weekend before Tuesday's election, the Republican running to succeed Gov. DeSantis pointed to a packed Friday rally with President Trump in Daytona Beach and put a 20 percent insurance-premium cut at the center of his pitch.

Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican running to succeed term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis, predicted victory in Florida's race for governor during a Saturday appearance on Newsmax, as the midterm campaign reached its final weekend. Donalds told the network's 'Saturday Report' that President Donald Trump's Friday night rally in Daytona Beach was a packed house, with people still coming in during the president's speech, and that he expects Florida voters to turn out on Tuesday and win him the governor's race.
Affordability was the center of the pitch. Donalds said it is the top issue on voters' minds and laid out plans to reduce housing costs, insurance premiums and property taxes, including a plan to lower insurance premiums 20 percent in Florida and to eliminate homestead property taxes. He credited DeSantis's leadership and said his campaign would build on it while lowering costs.
Donalds drew a sharp contrast with his Democratic opponent, former congressman David Jolly, accusing him of changing positions — on the Second Amendment and on abortion among them — when he changed parties, and arguing voters cannot trust the shift. He also predicted Republican Sen. Ashley Moody will defeat Democratic challenger Angie Nixon on Tuesday.
The interview closed with a turnout appeal: Donalds urged Republicans to vote Tuesday to keep the governorship, the state House and Senate, and Congress in Republican hands. Florida's voters render the verdict on all of it Tuesday, November 3 — with Duval County's early voting ending today, Sunday, ahead of Election Day.
