Sporting JAX and Brooklyn FC Play an Eight-Goal Thriller: 4-4 Draw at Hodges Ties the Super League Record (Jacksonville Watch News)

Sporting JAX and Brooklyn FC put on the wildest afternoon of the Gainbridge Super League season at Hodges Stadium on Saturday, playing to a 4-4 draw that tied the league record for most goals scored in a single match, according to the league's official match highlights.

Ashlyn Puerta scored twice for the hosts, helping Sporting JAX fight back to earn a point, the league said. Brooklyn's Jackie Richards also recorded a brace, and Brooklyn's Jilly Skimkin made league history by becoming the first player to record three assists in a match. Catherine Zimmerman and Paige Kenton were also among the scorers listed in the league's highlight record of the game.

The draw extends Sporting JAX's run of form at exactly the right end of the table. Jacksonville entered the weekend in second place in the standings and on a three-game undefeated streak, with 10 goals across its previous three outings, according to the league's Week 12 notes — and Saturday's four more made it four unbeaten, even if the club's Players' Shield chase wanted all three points at home. Brooklyn, which won the first meeting between the clubs 3-2 earlier this season, leaves Jacksonville with a point of its own.
