ST. JOHNS COUNTY / WEEKEND CRASHES

Pedestrian Crash Closes Palmo Fish Camp Road in St. Johns County Sunday, a Day After a Motorcyclist Died on Four Mile Road

Two separate St. Johns County crashes closed roads on consecutive days: Sunday's vehicle-and-pedestrian crash on Palmo Fish Camp Road shut the road in both directions while the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit investigated, and a motorcyclist died after a Halloween-night crash near the 1900 block of Four Mile Road.

Pedestrian Crash Closes Palmo Fish Camp Road in St. Johns County Sunday, a Day After a Motorcyclist Died on Four Mile Road (Jacksonville Watch News)

St. Johns County drivers met two crash scenes in two days this weekend. A crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian shut down Palmo Fish Camp Road in both directions on Sunday, the St. Johns Citizen reported in a file opened and read directly by the desk this run. The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said deputies were at the scene and its Traffic Unit was investigating.

The Sheriff's Office's initial announcement did not provide information about injuries in the Palmo Fish Camp Road crash or when the road would reopen, the Citizen reported. The desk reports the closure and the investigation as officials stated them, and nothing more: no injury information has been released for the pedestrian crash, and the desk will update when the Sheriff's Office does.

The second crash was fatal. A motorcyclist died following a Halloween-night crash involving another vehicle near the 1900 block of Four Mile Road, the Citizen reported, citing Action News Jax's account: one person was transported to a hospital and later died, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue as reported by the station. Four Mile Road reopened around 1 a.m.

The two crashes are separate incidents in different parts of the county, and no agency has connected them. Both roads serve the county's fast-growing southern and western corridors, where weekend-night traffic mixes with dark, two-lane stretches - the desk's standing advice on this beat applies: slow down on unlit county roads, and expect closures to outlast the first official post while a traffic unit works a serious scene.
